Val’s Bio

Val was raised in the restaurant industry working by her parent’s side from as far back as she can remember. Val’s father emigrated from Greece to this country, working his way up from a dishwasher to the owner and operator of several pizzerias.

As Val grew up and honed her skills in the food industry, she decided to start her own career doing what she loved. At 22 years-old she opened her first pizzeria, and over the next eight years Val had opened and sold six pizzerias, before settling at her flagship location in Holden in 1991.

Val was encouraged by her strong following of loyal clientele and avid supporters to expand her business. She purchased her present location at 75 Reservoir Street in 1996 — going from a small storefront pizzeria to a 7,200-square-foot restaurant and bar.

Over the last two decades Val has evolved as a restaurateur with creative, sophisticated cuisine and further expanding her restaurant with a function room and inviting lounge — featuring a beautiful floor to ceiling stone fireplace, as well as a wide selection of wines by the glass, martinis & exotic cocktails.

The accolades have followed with many reviews and awards including Best Seafood Restaurant and Best Family Restaurant, and Val’s crowning glory being inducted into Les Amis d’Escoffier Society of Massachusetts.

When Val isn’t walking the dining room greeting guests and ensuring a quality experience, or expediting on the line, making her famous soups and sauces or coordinating a function – she’s probably out exploring the culinary and wine world from Miami to Napa.
